There's Just Something About Love

Sunday mornings are very special to me.  We have an hour long drive to the church and on the way I take the opportunity to prepare myself for the morning service.  I read a Message book or the Bible.  Sometimes I listen to hymns, and other times I listen to my parents as they talk about Scripture.

One particular Sunday morning, I was listening to my parents talk.  They were on the subject of truth, lies, and love.  I'll take a moment to point out the obvious here; truth and love walk hand in hand.  Never will you find love in a lie.  First Corinthians 13:6 says that love, "Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth".

I was enjoying the conversation, when I heard my dad make the brief statement, "Something about love."  Immediately, words sprang to my mind and the Lord inspired me to write them down, forming the poem below.  I hope it blesses you.

There Is Just Something About Love

There’s something about Your love,
It just takes my breath away,
Never ceasing, always flowing,
It carries me through the darkest day.

The song of love,
The sweetest refrain,
How it pours down upon me,
In a gentle falling rain.

It’s truly amazing, the sacrificial blood:
It washed my sins away!
No longer does it matter to me, what others say.
It has cleansed me, it made me new.
Oh His love glows, like beads of morning dew.

Love is faithful, love is true,
As long as I’m able Lord, I’ll stand for you.

There’s just something about Your love,
Something I can’t explain.
But You took away my pain.
There are no words, no tongue can tell,
And yet You delivered me from the lowest hell.

The path you took… to the cross,

It made the perfect way.
An example of a love so pure,
Has made me absolutely sure:
Without Your love I’d be broken,
Without Your love I’d be lost,
And knowing this, You paid the cost.

There’s just something about Your love,
It just takes my breath away,
To know someday soon… You’ll come,
To catch Your waiting Bride away!
