Last week, I spent the night in a empty house, with my sister. We made the mistake of selecting the movie "Jane Eyre" to watch. We thought it wasn't going to affect us too much. The movie had a lot of tense, dramatic scenes surrounding a crazy woman who walks the halls at night. It was fictional, it wouldn't have any negative impact on us, right? Wrong.
Even though we watched another movie afterward, it only fueled my already-tense imagination, despite the reduced drama. The house, being quiet, only served to make me think that I had heard something behind a closed door.
In short, the kinda-scary atmosphere from the movie, remained long after it was over. I have experienced this before; when I read too many mystery's, (it might just be a mystery concerning lost treasure, and getting it before someone else does), and I'm nearly jumping out of my skin, any time I hear or see something in the dark. Annoying in the extreme, because I love a good mystery!
But the night in the empty house made me think about Atmosphere, and how we each create our own. Atmosphere is defined in the "Random House Dictionary" as: A pervading influence/environment, a distinctive quality, as of a place; or character.
What we are influenced by, what we are around, does affect us. And other people can tell what is affecting us, by the atmosphere that we create.
As sons and daughters of God, we are written epistles, read of all men. (paraphrased) What we do and say, and how we act in situations, is all watched constantly by others. If we are filling our minds with the wrong things, and reading the wrong things, we aren't creating a Heavenly atmosphere. We need to make sure what we are watching/reading/listing to is godly; Following the guidelines set for us in Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
The atmosphere we create, needs to be that of a God-honoring Christian.

Now, did you ever see people, they were nice people (I ain't saying this for any back now.), nice people but you just couldn't hardly stand to be around them. You know that. Nice people, it's their atmosphere they're in. Then you've seen other people that you just long to be with them, is that right? It's that atmosphere that's around them all the time.

What we need is a Holy Ghost atmosphere (That's right.), an atmosphere where the power of God's a moving, one accord, one place, gathered together under that atmosphere of expecting God to move down and do signs and wonders. Amen. Let's move ourself up into that bracket. Step up in faith. Move out of these three dimensions up into the next one.
God bless you in your walk!
