A score and three years ago to this date, a set of twins were born. Two baby girls, nearly identical in every appearance. As they grew older, they still looked very much the same, though they differed often in personalities.
My sister Kristen, and I have spent many years together. Our relationship has been unique, after all, how many people can claim an identical twin? Not many. :) We certainly share a special bond.
Some people think that twins have telepathic ability that allows them to know what each other is thinking and feeling. That is not completely true. Yes, my sister and I often know what each other is thinking or what each other is feeling, but it is not because of a telepathic ability. We have lived together for 23 years, and have rarely been separated from each other's company. Sharing a bedroom, the last person we say goodnight to and the first person we say good-morning to, is always each other.
So today, I decided to do an interview. This is composed of many questions that we have been asked over the years. :)
Question #1: Who was born first?
Answer: That is somewhat debatable, though I think we have decided that I am the older one. It depends if she wants me to go first.
Question #2: How can we tell you apart from each other?
Answer: There are some differences, though it has taken many years for some of our family members and friends to tell us apart. Occasionally, they still get us mixed up and so we have learned to answer to each other's names pretty well. I guess the biggest difference is that I wear glasses, and my sister doesn't. If we stood next to each other, you could tell us apart by our height, (if my sister doesn't wear heels). I am two inches taller than her.
Also, my face is more oval in shape, while her's is fuller. Our immediate family and close friends, can tell us apart by our voice. My sister's is a little bit of a higher pitch with a slight lisp, while mine is softer and deeper. :)
Question #3: Can you sense what each other is thinking or feeling? I have heard that twins have this sorta, weird telepathic ability that allows them to do that.
Answer: We often know each other's thoughts and what the other is feeling, but it is not because of a telepathic ability. We have just spent a lot of time in each other's company, we have learned a lot about each other's likes and dislikes.
Question #4: Do you both always like the same thing?
Answer: We are identical, but our personalities are different in many respects. We both like the color purple, though turquoise is probably my favorite color now. We love tea, she likes peppermint and raspberry with cream and sugar. I like Earl Grey black tea, with a little bit of milk. I don't mind drinking peppermint or raspberry, but I like my tea very dark.
We also enjoy shopping. My sister loves to shop for clothes, I am content in the book section. We both love fruit and eat healthy, my sister is slightly more of a health nut than I am. She eats birdseed bread (the kind of bread with cracked grain, seeds, and herbs on the top), she also makes milk shakes with broccoli and cauliflower.
I love being out of doors and working hard. My sister likes being indoors, and prefers housework to yard work. She likes winter and fall best. I love winter and spring.
Question #5: Do you often dress alike?
Answer: Sometimes, though it is not very often. We look enough alike, that we don't have to wear the same outfit to confuse people. I like to wear patio dresses and earth tones. My sister goes for the soft pastel colors. :)
Question #6: Do you like doing the same activities?
Answer: We both love reading. I prefer tragic endings and act of heroism. My sister likes heroism too, but it had to have a "happily ever after" ending. She likes swimming, and I most certainly do not. I like drawing and painting, and do it regularly. I also like sewing. My sister like baking. She is also fair at drawing, but it is not something she does a lot.
Question #7: What if the guys that start courting you can't tell the difference between the two of you and get the wrong one?
Answer: Haha, we have talked about that. I think that though it might be a little difficult for someone to tell us apart at first, they'll quickly note the differences once they get to know us. Some of the guys that have approached us so far have been able to tell us a part so its not too big of a concern right now.
Question #8: It would be awesome if you both ended up marrying twins. Do you think you might?
Answer: The likelihood of find message believing, twin boys unmarried and around our age would be very small. I suppose if the Lord willed it, it could happen...
Question #9: Will you both get married at the same time?
Answer: I suppose it is possible, though I am not sure that it is entirely realistic. :) I suppose, we'll cross that bridge if we get there.
Question #10: Do you think you will have twins?
Answer: Whatever the Lord wills. Both my sister and I love having that special bond, and we wouldn't mind have twin babies ourselves.
There are probably a lot more questions that we have been asked, but I just decided to give you the top 10. :)
Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to wish my twin sister, a very Happy Birthday. It has been awesome sharing my life with her, and now this very special day. God has bless me very richly. I love you sister!
