Loving The Little Ones
Jesus loved the little children and welcomed them without reservation. He even said, to enter the Kingdom of God we must become as little children. What was it that He loved about the little children?
Children give their love freely. They enjoy spending time with you, and they cherish the simplest gifts.
After church one Sunday, a little girl from my Sunday School class came skipping up to me. Her strawberry blonde hair bounced merrily around her face. With a sweet smile, she asked if she could walk with me, It was a warm day, but I couldn't deny such a happy request and so hand in hand, we walked outside for a short while. I asked her questions about family, school, and the small incidents in her life.
She was happy to chatter and I was happy to listen. I enjoyed her company and felt really blessed, when she hugged me and said, "I love spending time with you." I know something of how God feels when we tell Him that we love spending time with Him, and are cheerful to do so!
When we go to church, read our Bible, or pray... do we do it out of a sense of obligation? Or of genuine love? Do we look forward to each morning as another day to live for our Lord? Are we thankful for the smallest gifts He gives us, and even for the gifts we don't always recognize?
I want to become more like a little child. I want to be able to forgive, to accept correction with contrite tears, to love without reservation, to take joy in the smallest of gifts, to cherish spending time with my Lord and Savior, and to trust without doubting.
