"It is the power of two," the old gent said as we parted ways.
I had gone to the store to buy some milk since we had used the last bit cooking and baking earlier that morning. My family is very particular about the milk we get and it must be, no exceptions, whole milk.
I arrived in the diary aisle, and looked for the Pantry Essential, Whole Milk. It wasn't there. I looked a second time, and still, I couldn't locate it. An old gent behind me was waiting and so I scooted to the side hoping to not look so obvious as I continued to scan the shelves.
To my surprise, the old gent continued to linger and curious, I turned to watch him. He got on his knees to look at the lower shelves and stood again, still looking. I guessed that he was also looking for the Pantry Essentials, Whole Milk and inquired. My guess was correct and we both came to the conclusion that the milk needed to be restocked.
I scanned the area for an employee and quickly found one in the bread section sorting out a situation with a disgruntled shopper and trying to restock. The customer was upset about the bread being sliced because she wanted a whole, un-sliced loaf. To say the least, the employee wasn't particularly happy about having to sort out my problem too.
She said she would call someone to help me and I moved to return to the dairy aisle. On my way there, I saw another employee and quickly enlisted his help. He went to the back and pushed all the milk to the front, but didn't restock the Whole Milk. He came back and asked if that was good. I looked at the old gent, because we had both said we needed the Whole Milk and the shelf was still obviously bare.
The young man finally admitted that he didn't know where the Milk in the back was kept and so he couldn't restock it. I politely asked if he would summon the manager since he said that none of the employees worked the evening shift in diary and that they only came in the morning. I had made a special trip to the store just for milk and I wasn't going home empty. Surely the manger would know where the Milk was.
The lady employee who had talked with me originally, came and asked if we had been helped. I told her that we hadn't, and she placed a call over the speaker that the whole store could hear.
We were persistent and we were not to be deterred, working together as a team to get someone to give us the thing we needed. At long last, the Milk was restocked. The old gent handed a gallon to me and took one for himself. "That is the power of two."
It reminded me of how I cannot do anything by myself, but with God I can do all things. If I am persistent, and don't relinquish my hold on Him, then I can overcome any obstacle through Him! He will always supply my need, He isn't human that He ever runs out of something, and He will honor persistent faith.
