Blessings (By Senior Blog Article: Sharron M.)
Near everyone goes through the valley. Ya'll know the valley I am talking about: depression, self-doubts, pity, belittling, confusion, low self-esteem, etc.
During my teenage years, and even still occasionally travel through this valley again. I began looking for ways to combat depression and other negative self-belittling thoughts and moods. Some of the best methods I have found are: reading my Bible, praying, and listening to tapes.
Another way is to keep a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, or whenever you have time or desire; record 10 blessings with a date beneath it. If you have time, read back on the other blessings you have recorded. It has never failed to lift my spirits, and I am sure it will lift yours as well.
For example, my daily list of blessings today would be:
1. Homemade "Banana Bread"
2. Tea during the early morning hours...
3. My soft sheepskin blanket
4. Comfy jean skirts, and hoodies
5. Time with family
6. A day's wages
7. Peppermint essential oil
8. Music & hymns
9. Three packages in the mail
10. A friend's conversation

Even if you are not discouraged, reflecting with gratitude and thankfulness always improves one's attitude and view points.
Be blessed, as always... thank you for reading.
